Argos sign first round draft pick Mark Moroz to long-term contract

Toronto, ON – When the Toronto Argonauts take the field for practice this afternoon, there will be a new lineman among them. The team is thrilled to welcome OG Mark Moroz from Welland, Ontario, to the Argos. The Double Blue signed the quick and agile college star to a 3-year deal with an option for a fourth.

Mark was drafted by Toronto in the first round, fourth overall, in the 2004 CFL Canadian Draft held in April. Following a tryout with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (NFL), Moroz has returned to Canada and will fill a role at offensive guard and will also train as a back-up offensive tackle.

2002 The All-ACC honourable mention selection saw action in every game and helped the Deacon ground game lead the ACC in rushing for the second straight year...helped WFU average an ACC-best and school-record 408.1 yards of total offence per game....the Wake Forest offensive line also tied an ACC-low by giving up just 12 sacks in 2002 and Moroz helped the Deacon offence collect 495 total yards and 349 rushing yards -- both the highest single-game totals in two seasons -- against Virginia...graded out at 92 percent with a team-high 18 knockdowns against the Cavaliers...Moroz was part of offensive effort at Georgia Tech that tallied 447 total yards, including 238 passing yards and no sacks on the quarterbacks...part of an offensive effort against Clemson that tallied the most total yards (523) in two years, including a 365-rushing yard performance, the eighth best in school history...helped the Deacon offence record 458 yards, including 245 rushing yards in the shutout victory over North Carolina...registered 15 knockdowns against the Tar Heels...part of an offensive effort that tallied 383 yards, including 237 rushing yards in the loss to Florida State...graded out at a game-high and season best 96 percent against the Seminoles with 12 knockdowns... overcame a knee injury to play in the Seattle Bowl, seeing action as a reserve against Oregon...helped WFU record a season-high 241 passing yards and a Seattle Bowl-record 497 yards of total offence against the Ducks.

2001 Saw action in every game at right tackle and started the last five contests of the season...played a season-high 51 snaps at Georgia Tech...helped hold opponents to an ACC-low 13 quarterback sacks in 11 games...played a major role in opening the holes needed for the Demon Deacon running game that led the conference with 221.6 rushing yards per game.

2000 Listed as the number two tight end on the depth chart as a freshman...made three starts, against Clemson, Virginia and Duke, when the Deacons opened up in offensive formations featuring two tight ends...did not catch a pass...a solid contributor on special teams who earned a varsity letter.

High School Named a top prep performer in Canada as a high school senior...a four year starter and team captain for Notre Dame College as a junior and senior...led Fighting Irish to undefeated championship season senior year...earned first-team All-Canadian honors for his performances both on the field and in the classroom...named the Notre Dame Male Athlete of the Year his senior season...played for coach Rick Oreskavich.

Personal Majored in Sociology...musically talented, he plays both the piano and saxophone.
