Southern Maryland Blue Crabs News Release
WALDORF, Md. - This Wednesday, June 27th area teachers will be saved by the bell when Dennis Haskins, who is best known for his role on "Saved By The Bell" as Principal Richard Belding, takes Regency Furniture Stadium by storm. Haskins has become a staple in the Minor League Baseball community touring the country to appear at many ballparks each summer.
Haskins will be interacting with fans throughout the game, as well as tossing out a first pitch, signing autographs, and participating in in-game promotions. "We want Dennis to be readily accessible for fans, and he is embracing that. He is not like your average appearance, he wants to get involved, be the on-field host for a few innings, lead the entire stadium in Sweet Caroline, mingle in the Legends Club a bit. He's the sort of guy that won't leave until he's greeted each and every fan," said Marketing Manager Courtney Freeland.
Earlier in the year, the Blue Crabs front office staff reached out to all of the teachers in the tri-county area to offer them complimentary group tickets for Wednesday Night's game as a chance for them to unwind from the school year and enjoy each other's company one more time before summer vacation. "Teachers have a hard job, that's for sure. They also play a very important role in the lives of area children. We wanted to honor them with a night dedicated to their hard work, and what better way to honor them then to offer them a complimentary night of fun and baseball featuring one of the most iconic educators on television," Freeland said.
Area teachers will still be able to obtain a complimentary ticket in the Regency Furniture Stadium box office by presenting their school system identification badge. Tickets for the general public start at just $6.00 and while they are going fast, are still available. Fans are encouraged to log onto www.somdbluecrabs.com for more information and to purchase tickets, or to stop into the Regency Furniture Stadium Box Office.
