Everett AquaSox News Release

EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett AquaSox and Spokane Indians went to extra innings for the second straight game and the Frogs came out on top again, winning 7-6 in 10 innings. Spokane's left fielder saw the potential third out bounce off his glove and onto the ground, allowing Ketel Marte to score the winning run for the second straight night.

The Sox were down two runs going into the bottom of the ninth, but an RBI-double by Taylor Ard and an RBI-single by David Villasuso tied the game at 6-6.

Ard went 3-5 on the night and the WSU alumnus continues to rake for the Frogs, raising his batting average to .385.

Right-hander Mayckol Guaipe started for the Sox and pitched well until the fifth inning when Spokane was able to knock in five runs. The 21-year-old Venezuelan allowed six hits in the inning.

Guaipe finished the night after six innings, allowing five runs on eight hits. Jose Valdespina started for the Tribe and pitched well, allowing just three hits in five innings and no earned runs.

Dominic Leone (1-0) tossed the final 2.1 innings for the Sox to earn the win in relief.

The Frogs and the Tribe will go at it again Friday for the third game of the five-game series. Right-hander Dylan Unsworth will start for the Sox, matched by right-hander David Perez of the Indians.
