Canadians Take Rain-Shortened Victory Over Tri-City
June 22, 2012 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Vancouver Canadians News Release
(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, BC) - A triple off the bat of Canadians CF Dalton Pompey was the key to Vancouver's only run of the game in the bottom of the 3rd inning that proved to be the winner in a 1-0 C's victory over Tri-City in a game that was called due to rain in the bottom of the 7th inning.
Canadians starter RHP Ben White had his best outing of the summer going six scoreless innings for his first win of the summer while Dust Devils starter RHP Ben Hughes was equally as impressive despite giving up an RBI single to RF Nick Baligod in the bottom of the 3rd inning that scored CF Dalton Pompey for the rain-shortened game's only run.
With the win, Vancouver improves to 6-2 (.750) on the season while the Dust Devils drop to 3-5 (.375) on the young Northwest League season. The C's will play game four of this five-game home stand with LHP Colton Turner (0-0 3.00) getting the ball on Saturday evening with first pitch against Tri-City set for 7:05pm.
