ICYMI: Marcos Diplan struck out five and allowed just one hit over five and 1/3 scoreless innings and Ronnie Gideon hit a two-run home run in the seventh as the Mudcats blanked the visiting Astros 3-0 in front of a crowd of 5,946 at Five County Stadium on Saturday night.

ABOUT THE LAST ONE: Starter Marcos Diplan and relievers Luke Barker and Chase Williams combined on a two-hit shutout (Carolina's third this season) of the visiting Astros last night. Diplan carried a no-hitter through the fourth before giving up a hit to start the fifth. Barker followed Diplan in the sixth and went on to work through 2.2 scoreless innings while also allowing just one hit. He also walked one (his first walk of the season), struck out one and left an inherited runner on base in his scoreless relief appearance. Barker picked up his second hold of the season and fellow reliever Chase Williams worked a scoreless ninth while earning his third save.

VS. ASTROS: The Mudcats and Astros meet today in the final game of a four game series at Five County Stadium. The Mudcats won last night's game 3-0, but trail in the series two games to one. Tonight's game is the fourth of 28 total meetings this season between the two teams. The Mudcats went just 7-16 against Buies Creek last season, including a 3-8 record at home and 4-8 record on the road.

MUDCATS STARTER: Trey Supak has today's series finale start for the Mudcats against the visiting Astros. Supak enters today's outing at 1-0 with a 0.60 ERA and 15 strikeouts over three starts and 15.0 innings pitched so far this season. Supak's 0.60 ERA is currently the third lowest among qualified pitchers in the Carolina League this season. He last pitched on 4/17 in Wilmington where he earned his first win of the season after holding the Blue Rocks scoreless over 5.0 innings pitched. Supak struck out six, walked one and gave up just three hits his last time out while pitching to a season best 68 game score.

OPP STARTER: Right-hander Abdiel Saldana has today's series finale start for the Astros versus the Mudcats in Zebulon. Saldana is 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA over three games and two starts this season with Buies Creek. He has also totaled nine strikeouts, against three walks over 14.0 innings pitched this season. Saldana last pitched on 4/16 against Myrtle Beach and earned his second straight win after holding the Pelicans scoreless over 5.0 innings. He also walked two and struck out two his last time out for the Astros.

STREAKING: Ryan Aguilar has hit safely in four straight games and is batting .636/.750/.909 (7-for-11) with a double, a triple, three RBI and five walks during the streak.

WHERE THEY RANK: Trey Supak (0.60), Luke Barker (0.61) and Cam Roegner (1.15) rank 3rd, 4th and 5th respectively in lowest earned run average in the Carolina League this season... Barker is also 2nd in WHIP (0.61), tied for 2nd in the CL in games (6), tied for 2nd in holds (2), 3rd in lowest BB/9ip ratio (0.61) and 3rd in fewest baserunners/9ip ratio (5.52)... Conor Harber is 4th in the CL in highest SO/9ip ratio (14.40)... Tucker Neuhaus (25) and Luis Aviles Jr. (24) are 2nd and 3rd in most strikeouts.

ALL THE Ks: The Mudcats offense total 12 strikeouts in last night's loss, thus bringing the club's overall season total to a Carolina League high 175 strikeouts through 17 games this season. The Mudcats also lead the CL in highest K% (28.0%) and are 5th in MiLB as a team for most strikeouts this season. The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (California League) lead MiLB in most strikeouts with 190 through 17 games.

BY FRAME: The Mudcats have totaled 65 runs so far this season. Of those 65 total runs, 29 have been scored over the first three innings, 23 have been scored between the fourth and sixth innings and 13 have been scored over the final three innings of a game this season.
