ICYMI: Tucker Neuhaus hit a go-ahead solo home run in the eighth to lift the Mudcats to a 3-2 series clinching victory versus the Frederick Keys on Wednesday afternoon at Five County Stadium. With the win, the first place Mudcats finished their first home stand of the season with a 5-2 record and with back-to-back series victories.

ABOUT THE LAST ONE: Marcos Diplan pitched into the sixth and allowed just two unearned runs in yesterday's outing (5.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 3 SO) against the Frederick Keys. Carolina's starting pitchers are now 1-1 with a 1.82 ERA through the first seven games of the 2018 season. They have also combined to total 24 strikeouts against 24 walks in 29.2 innings pitched.

VS. DASH: The Mudcats take to the road for the first time this season while beginning a three game series against the Dash at BB&T Ballpark tonight in Winston-Salem. The Mudcats recently won three of four versus the Dash during the first series of the 2018 season at Five County Stadium. The Mudcats finished the 2017 season going 19-5 against the Dash, including a perfect 13-0 record when playing the Dash at home in 2017... Cooper Hummel hit .313/.433/.458 over 14 games (15-for-48, 9 R, 4 2B, 1 HR, 6 RBI) against the Dash last season... Trey Supak went 2-0 with a 1.38 ERA over two starts (13.0 IP, 4 BB, 8 SO) against the Dash last season.

MUDCATS STARTER: Trey Supak has tonight's road start for the Mudcats in Winston-Salem. Supak made his season debut against this same Dash squad on 4/6 and ended up pitching through 5.0 scoreless innings with four walks and six strikeouts. He did not end up earning a decision his last time out and fell just an inning shy of a quality start. Supak is currently rated as the No 23 prospect in the Brewers system by MLBpipeline.com.

DASH STARTER: Left-hander Bernardo Flores has the start for the Dash tonight at BB&T Ballpark. Flores made his 2018 season debut against the Mudcats on 4/6 and ended up earning the win after holding the Mudcats to three runs (two earned) on six hits over 6.0 innings pitched. He also struck out four and walked one while earning his first win of the season. Flores started the 2017 season with Low-A Kannapolis and pitched to a 3.00 ERA over 14 starts and 78.0 innings (70 SO, 13 BB) before the White Sox moved him to High-A Winston-Salem at the All-Star break. He then went on to go 2-3 with a 4.24 ERA in nine starts and 40.1 innings pitched (33 SO, 19 BB) Flores, however, closed the 2017 season going 2-0 with a 1.42 ERA over three starts in August (12.2 IP, 11 SO, 5 BB).

NEUHAUS EXCELS IN NEW HOUSE: Tucker Neuhaus has started the 2018 campaign on an absolute tear. He has hit safely in every game so far and is batting .385/.393/.615 with a team best 10 hits, a team best six RBI and has both of Carolina's two home runs during his season opening seven game hit streak.

SLOPPY D: The Mudcats have scored 25 runs so far this season, but only 12 have been earned to their opponent's respective pitching staffs. Through seven game, Carolina's opponents have been charged with 13 errors, including six by the Dash in the first series of the season and seven by the Keys in the second series. Frederick's defense was charged with five errors alone in Wednesday's morning tilt at Five County Stadium... Carolina's defense, meanwhile, has fared only slightly better as they have been charged with eight errors over the first week of play this season.

WHERE THEY RANK: Luis Aviles Jr. is currently 2nd in the Carolina League in stolen bases (5)... Tucker Neuhaus is currently tied for 5th in the CL in batting (.385), tied for the league lead in home runs (2) and is 4th in slugging (.615).

GOTTA CATCH 'EM ALL: Max McDowell had quite the season debut in Thursday night's season opener both behind and at the plate. The second-year Mudcats' catcher threw out four base runners attempting to steal and picked off another at first. He also went 2-for-4 with a double and scored the go-ahead run in the game deciding eighth inning... McDowell is currently 6-of-6 in catching would be base stealers... McDowell got out to a hot start behind the plate last season after leading Carolina League catchers in caught stealing last April (.550, 11 CS, 9 SB).

HOW THEY'RE BUILT: The Mudcats open the 2018 season with 10 returning players from last season, including RHP Luke Barker, RHP Marcos Diplan, RHP Conor Harber, RHP Jon Olczak, RHP Trey Supak, C/OF Cooper Hummel, C Max McDowell, INF Luis Aviles, INF/OF Weston Wilson and OF Carlos Belonis... The 2018 Mudcats also feature the Brewers top overall rated prospect (by MLBPipeline.com) in INF/DH Keston Hiura. Hiura is one of three former first round selections on the 2018 roster. The others include LHP Nathan Kirby (2015) and OF Clint Coulter (2012)... The 2018 Mudcats also feature three of Milwaukee's Top 30 prospects as rated by MLBPipeline.com. The list includes Hiura (1), Diplan (12) and Supak (23).

BIG LEAGUE CAMP: Keston Hiura hit .419/.438/.548 (.986 OPS) with 3 R, 13 H, 1 2B, 1 HR, 7 RBI and 1 BB over 19 MLB Spring Training games before his assignment to minor league camp on 3/17/18... Weston Wilson went 3-for-9 with three runs over eight MLB Spring Training games... Luis Aviles Jr. played in nine MLB Spring Training games and went 0-for-11 with six strikeouts.

FARM REPORT: Corey Ray (2017) went 2-for-4 with two runs and a triple in Double-A Biloxi's 2-0 victory versus the Mississippi Braves last night. Troy Stokes Jr. (2017) went 2-for-3 in that same game and drove in a run for the Shuckers. Nate Griep (2017) closed out the 2-0 home win and earned his third save of the season.
