Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
Rancho Cucamonga, CA - Yeiner Fernandez collected his second walk-off hit of the home stand, as the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes rallied from a five-run deficit to defeat the Visalia Rawhide on Saturday night, winning 7-6 in front of more than 3,700 fans at LoanMart Field.
Fernandez had a three-hit game and continued his assault on Low-A West pitching, as he's now hit safely in all seven games he's played in, with six multi-hit games and 10 RBIs in those seven contests.
Trailing 6-5 in the last of the ninth, Rancho put a rally together against Visalia closer David Sanchez (3-1). Kenneth Betancourt tied the game with a one-out single, scoring Ismael Alcantara. Two batters later, Fernandez delivered the game-winner, a slicing fly ball into the gap in right-center, plating Luis Diaz with the game-winner.
The Quakes trailed 6-1 and scored the game's final six runs to earn their fourth win in five games of the series.
Imanol Vargas (17) and Luis Diaz (6) both went deep, helping Rancho rally from the early deficit.
Quakes' reliever Reinaldo De Paula (3-1) earned the win with three innings of scoreless work.
The Quakes (67-52) complete the 2021 season on Sunday afternoon at 2pm, as they finish their six-game series with the Rawhide. Sunday's pitching match-up will see Benony Robles make his Quakes' debut, as he takes on Scott Randall. Game time is 2:00pm and Kids will Run the Bases after the game, thanks to Smile Generation.
