
Anaheim Hills native Don "Crockett" Johnson turns pro in Long Beach

LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Long Beach Ice Dogs announced today that Anaheim Hills, CA native and winger Donald Johnson has agreed to terms for the 2006-2007 season. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The 6' 1", 200-pound native of Anaheim Hills, CA played the last two seasons with the U. of Alaska-Fairbanks. Johnson played junior hockey with the South Surrey Eagles of the BCHL where he scored 71 points in just 54 games. Donald was named the Eagles playoff MVP, scoring 22 points in just 13 playoff games. Prior to arriving at the Ice Dogs Camp, Johnson will be training in Toronto and Albany, NY.
"I feel it is very important to bring in as much local talent from Southern California," said Managing Partner/Owner Steven Bash. "We are very excited to give Donald the chance to play in front of his family, friends, and community."
"Donald had excellent numbers in juniors," said Head Coach and General Manager Rick Adduono. "He is a very good skater that adds some size up front. We are looking for Donald to come in and have a fine rookie season."
"It has been seven years since I have been able to play hockey close to home," said Johnson. "I am very excited to start my professional hockey career in Long Beach. I can't wait for the start of training camp."
