Texas Wildcatters News Release

Beaumont, TX (August 7, 2006) The Texas Wildcatters Hockey Team is pleased to announce their first signing for the upcoming 2006-07 season. As one of the top offensive talents in the ECHL and a 2005 All-Star, Marco Rosa joins the Wildcatters after playing in 27 games for the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL last season. He also attended training camp for the Nashville Predators and has spent time with the Long Beach Ice Dogs under Wildcatters coach Malcolm Cameron, the last two seasons.

"Malcolm is pretty much the reason I ended up in Texas. He always puts a good team together," Rosa said. "The Wildcatters have a pretty good following. The fans care about hockey. It will make things exciting for the players and fans." In his first season of professional hockey with Long Beach, Rosa played in all 72 games and recorded 34 goals and 31 assists for 65 points. With his outstanding rookie season in the ECHL, he was selected to represent the National Conference in the 2005 All-Star Game and he was a runner-up for rookie of the year in 2004-05.

"Marco is one of the best offensive talents I have ever coached. He is also a very responsible player defensively," Wildcatters Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Malcolm Cameron said. "Marco suffered through some injuries last year that cost him some valuable games and he is going to come back and be a fun player to watch this season. We expect Marco to play games for our affiliate in Houston this year and have a tremendous season for the Wildcatters." Rosa attended Merrimack College in Andover, MA where he was one of the top scorers for the Warriors. The 6'0", 190 pound native of Scarborough, ON was drafted by the Dallas Stars in the 8th round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft in Sunrise, FL.

The new-look Wildcatters open their third season on October 20 at Florida, before returning to Ford Arena for the home opener on October 28 against the Pensacola Ice Pilots.
