
Anaheim Assigns Devante Smith-Pelly to Norfolk

ANAHEIM, Calif . - The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has assigned right wing Devante Smith-Pelly to the Norfolk Admirals, Anaheim's primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Smith-Pelly heads to Norfolk after posting three points (1g, 2a) in six preseason games with the Ducks last month. Last season, the 6-0, 222-pound forward totaled 32 points (14g,18a) in 65 games played with the Admirals. In addition, Smith-Pelly went scoreless in seven appearances with the Ducks during the 2012-13 season.
The Scarborough, Ontario native was selected in the second round (42nd overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Smith-Pelly made his NHL debut with Anaheim in 2011-12, collecting seven goals and 13 points with 16 penalty minutes in 49 contests. He appeared in his first game with the Ducks at 19 years, three months and 23 days on Oct. 7, 2011, at Buffalo (Helsinki, Finland), becoming the third-youngest player to appear in an Anaheim uniform. In 56 career NHL games, Smith-Pelly has seven goals and 13 points with 16 PIM.
The 25th season of Admirals hockey opens this Saturday (October 5) at Hartford. The Admirals home opener will take place on Friday, October 11 at 7:30 p.m. against the Binghamton Senators. Single game tickets are now on sale!
