Bowling Green, KY - The Bowling Green Hot Rods, Class A Affiliates of the Tampa Bay Rays, announce the RHP Jeff Ames has been named the Midwest League Pitcher of the Week for the week April 15-April 21, becoming the first Hot Rods player to win a Midwest League Player/Pitcher of the Week Award since 2011.

In his only start last week, Ames, the 42nd overall pick by the Rays in the 2011 First-Year Player Draft, hurled five innings of one-hit baseball on Tuesday in Great Lakes, leading the Hot Rods to a 2-0 win. Hot Rods relievers Jose Molina and Ryan Garton did not allow a hit in four combined relief innings to complete the nine-inning one-hitter of the Loons.

In his first three starts in a Hot Rods uniform, the Vancouver, WA, native has allowed just five hits and two runs in 15 innings, earning one win and two no decisions. The Hot Rods have won all three contests that Ames has started in 2013.

Bowling Green Ballpark and the Hot Rods are currently hosting their longest homestand of the 2013 season, a nine-game set that spans April 22-30.
