Amerks Sign Goaltender Kevin Kapalka to ATO

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans announced today that the team has signed goaltender Kevin Kapalka to an amateur tryout contract.

Kapalka, 24, has appeared in four ECHL games with the Idaho Steelheads this season, posting a record of 2-1-0-0 with a 3.64 goals-against average and a .871 save percentage. He joined the Steelheads in March following the completion of his college career at Lake Superior State, where he went 9-9-1 with a 2.60 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage this year. In four seasons at Lake Superior State, the 6-foot-1, 206-pound native of Mississauga, Ontario, compiled a record of 45-44-14 with a 2.59 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage.
