
Anaheim Signs Kerdiles, Megna and Lind; Assign to Norfolk

ANAHEIM, Calif. - The Anaheim Ducks announced late last week that the National Hockey League (NHL) club signed Wisconsin forward Nicolas Kerdiles, University of Nebraska-Omaha defenseman Jaycob Megna and Notre Dame defenseman Kevin Lind. The Ducks' have assigned all three to their primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL), the Norfolk Admirals.
Kerdiles, 20, played in 60 career games for Wisconsin and recorded 26 goals and 45 assists for 71 points in his time as a Badger. Kerdiles was fifth in the nation in points-per-game (1.36) and ranked third in the Big Ten Conference in points and goals as well as second in the league in assists. The Second-Team All-Star led the Badgers to the Big Ten Title with three points in the championship game and assisted on the game-winner in overtime. As a freshman, he earned Tournament MVP honors after taking Wisconsin to their first WCHA Final Five where he had 10 points (4g, 6a) in just five games. Kerdiles won gold in 2011 and 2012 with the USA Under-18 team at the IIHF U-18 World Championships. He is also the first Ducks' draft selection raised in Orange County.
Megna, 21, finished his three-year career at Nebraska-Omaha with 105 games played, four goals and 22 total points. The 6-5, 218-pound native of Plantation, Florida received WCHA All-Academic Team honors and was named a 2013 WCHA Scholar-Athlete. Anaheim chose Megna with their seventh round pick (210th overall) in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
Lind, 22, comes to Norfolk following four years at Notre Dame. There, Lind notched 151 games and 29 points (7g, 22a) along with 109 penalty minutes. In 2010, Lind heard his name called in the sixth round of the NHL Entry Draft as Anaheim's pick at 177th overall.
The Admirals take off north again this coming weekend to take on Providence, Worcester and Portland beginning at 7:05 p.m. Friday in Providence. Fans can tune-in on 1490 AM The Game and 1650 AM, or online at www.1490amthegame.com.
