Rochester Americans News Release

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans were blanked by the Syracuse Crunch 4-0 tonight at The Blue Cross Arena. The loss drops the Amerks to 15-25-0-3 on the season, snapping a two-game winning streak. The Amerks are now 2-4-0-0 against the Columbus Blue Jackets' affiliate this season.

The Crunch were led by a 29-save effort from goaltender Dan LaCosta to earn his second shutout of the season and the game's second star honors. Kevin Harvey had two assists in the game to earn the game's first star.

The Crunch struck first on the two-man advantage as Derek MacKenzie, left all alone in front of the net, knocked the puck into the empty net past Amerks goalie Mike Brodeur. Assisting on the Crunch power play goal was Mike York and Aaron Rome at the 1:27 mark of the second. The Crunch extended their lead to two on a tic-tac-toe passing play where Ryan Garlock finished the play off when he flung the puck in the back of the net.

The Crunch took a 3-0 lead in the third period when Mike Blunden converted on a John Vigilante rebound to deposit the puck into the unoccupied goal. The Crunch put the game away just under three minute later when Steve Kelly netted his eighth goal of the season at the 13:09 mark of the third.
