
Montreal Assigns Kyle Chipchura And Greg Stewart To Hamilton

MONTREAL, QC - Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced today that forwards Kyle Chipchura and Greg Stewart have been assigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League from Montreal.
Chipchura, 22, played in seven games for Montreal since being recalled on January 1st. This season, the 6-foot-2, 205-pound centre has played in a total of eight games with the Canadiens, recording two assists and five penalty minutes. In 25 games with Hamilton, the Bulldogs' Team Captain has registered 21 points (10 goals, 11 assists) along with 20 penalty minutes. Currently in his third professional season, the Westlock, Alberta native was selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the 1st, 18th overall, in the 2004 National Hockey League Entry Draft.
Stewart, 22, was recalled to Montreal on January 15th and competed in three games with the club earning his first-career NHL point, an assist, on January 17th in a 5-4 shootout win over the Ottawa Senators. The native of Kitchener, Ontario has played in 40 of the Bulldogs' games this season accumulating 15 points (seven goals, eight assists) while leading the club in penalty minutes with 131. The 6-foot-1, 201-pound left wing was Montreal's 8th round, 246th overall selection in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
The 'Dogs host the defending Calder Cup Champions the Chicago Wolves tomorrow night for a 7:30 p.m. match-up at Copps Coliseum. Tomorrow's game will be broadcast live on Cable 14.
