Americans Take Down T-Birds in Preseason Game

KENT, September 12, 2015 - The Tri-City Americans defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 3-2 Saturday night at the Red Lion Hotels' Preseason Tournament at the Toyota Center in Kennewick.

The T-Birds are now 2-3-0-0 in the preseason with one game remaining. The T-Birds will conclude their preseason schedule with a home game against the Victoria Royals on Friday, September 18, at 7:35pm at ShoWare Center.

Seattle took a 1-0 lead at 6:31 of the first period on Alexander True's first goal of the preseason. Jared Hauf had the only assist.

The Americans came back and quickly tied the game 1-1 at 8:20 of the first. Vladislav Lukin had the goal on an assist from Taylor Vickerman.

Tri-City outshot Seattle 9-8 in the first period.

Tri-City took a 3-1 lead early in the second period on goals from Beau McCue at 1:47 and 4:30 of the period. Tyler Sandhu assisted on McCue's first goal while Jordan Topping and Dylan Coghlan had the assists on the second McCue goal.

The Americans led 26-16 in shots after two periods by outshooting the T-Bird 17-8 in the period.

Kaden Elder cut the Americans lead to one goal at 7:19 of the third period. True and Nolan Volcan had the assists.

Logan Flodell started in goal for the T-Bird and stopped 29 of 32 shots.

Evan Sarthou stared for the Americans in goal and he had 23 saves on 25 shots.

The T-Birds open the 2015-16 season in Vancouver against the Giants on Friday, September 25, at 7:30pm at Pacific Coliseum.

The T-Birds home opener for the 2015-16 season is Saturday, October 3, against the Prince George Cougars at 7:05pm at ShoWare Center.

T-Birds single game tickets for the 2015-16 season are available online at the T-Birds website and at the ShoWare Center box office. The ShoWare Center Box Office is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday game days at 10 a.m. and Sunday game days at noon.
