KENNEWICK, WA - Tri-City Americans General Manager Bob Tory announced today that the team has signed 16-year-old forward Jordan Messier to a standard WHL Player's Contract. With Messier committing to Tri-City today, the Americans have now inked their top two picks from the 2007 Bantam Draft.

The 6'3", 180-pound right wing from Canmore, Alberta played for the Notre Dame Hounds AAA Midget team last season appearing in 43 games. Messier, Tri-City's first selection in 2007 Bantam Draft, registered 23 goals and 71 points, finishing fifth in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League in scoring. Along with fellow Tri-City prospect Brooks Macek, Messier and the Hounds captured the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Championship with a 34-6-1-3 record during the regular season and a 9-0-1 post-season run.

"Jordan is a power forward who possesses a very good skill set and is a very good skater. He also has an uncanny ability to find his teammates on the ice," Tory explained. "His vision and play-making skills are excellent."

"(Jordan) combines an unselfish, team approach with an excellent work ethic. We look forward to him making an immediate impact on our program," continued Tory.

The Americans' rookie camp will start on Wednesday, August 20 and conclude on Saturday, August 23 with the annual Todd Klassen Memorial Classic. Main camp will then kick-off on Sunday, August 24.
