Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
Brandon, Manitoba - The Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings have announced that well over 1,600 Season Tickets have been sold for the 2008-2009 Western Hockey League season.
As of Friday's deadline for Season Ticket holders to reserve their seats for the upcoming season, a total of 1,644 had been sold. The Wheat Kings, who finished second in the WHL's Eastern Division last season, sold over 2,700 Season tickets last year - a franchise high - and hope to sell three thousand this summer.
All Season Tickets that were not renewed by Friday's deadline will now be released to the general public and fans can purchase them by visiting the Wheat Kings' office at the Keystone Centre, by calling 726-3535 or by emailing office@wheatkings.com
Season Ticket prices are $299 for adults and $149 for youth (18 and under). $299 equates to an average ticket price of just over $8 per game, less than half the regular admission price.
In other Wheat King news, General Manager and head coach Kelly McCrimmon is pleased to announce the addition of two people to the club's front office. Matt McNish will join the club's marketing department as a sales and marketing account executive. Cam McGhee meanwhile has been named the team's new athletic therapist.
A native of Hamiota, McGhee is currently in his third season with the Northern Baseball League's Winnipeg Goldeyes. A graduate of the University of Manitoba, he spent the 2007-2008 Manitoba Junior Hockey League season with the Waywayseecappo Wolverines.
A Brandon University graduate with a Degree in Business, McNish joins the Wheat Kings after spending the past three years as a Marketing Associate with Sysco Foods of Winnipeg. A former member of the MJHL's Neepawa Natives and Wolverines, McNish has served as an assistant coach with the Brandon AA Bantam Wheat Kings for the past two seasons.
While McNish began working with the Wheat Kings earlier this month, McGhee will arrive on July 15th and begin preparations for the hockey club's Training Camp, scheduled to begin in late August.
