Americans Rally Falls Short, Fall to Denver 5-3

Denver, CO - The Americans finished their four games in five night stand on Monday afternoon at the Denver Coliseum, taking on the second place Denver Cutthroats.

The Denver Cutthroats got on the board first, near the midway point of the opening frame when Jean-Philipp Chabot lit the lamp at 9:35, assisted by Matt Glasser and Phil Tesoriero. Then Denver extended their lead on the power play on Jean-Philipp Chabot's second goal of the game, assisted by Daniel Barczuk and Garett Bembridge at 13:08 . Denver edged Allen in shots on net for the period by a count of 13-11 and held the 2-0 lead at the first intermission.

Allen cut the Denver lead in half late in the second period when Ben Power scored his first goal of the year, after recently joining the Americans, assisted by Mike Berube and Trevor Hendrikx at the 16:33 mark. Denver outshot Allen in the second period 18-12 and led the two period shot total 31-23 and led Allen on the scoreboard 2-1.

The Cutthroats regained their two goal lead at 5:29 of the final frame when TJ Fox lit the lamp, assisted by Jason Cohen and Kyle Fletcher. Allen answered back a couple of minutes later when Brian McMillin scored his fifth goal of the season, assisted by Tyler Ludwig and Jonathon Zion at 7:58 to cut Denver's lead to 3-2. Denver came right back to regain their two goal lead once again, when Troy Schwab scored at 9:05, with Aaron MacKenzie and Vincent Arseneau earning the helpers. Allen again cut the lead to one goal when Mike Berube scored his 4th goal of the season at 17:03, assisted by Tyler Ludwig and Spencer Asuchak. Troy Schwab capped the scoring for Denver with an empty net goal at the buzzer, the lone assist going to Garett Bembridge.

Allen heads to Wichita to face off against the Thunder on Friday night with the puck drop scheduled for 7:05PM .
