Cutthroats Foil Americans Only Visit to Coliseum

Denver - The Denver Cutthroats hosted the Allen Americans at the Denver Coliseum for the first time in the 2013-14 season series on Monday, February 17. The Denver Cutthroats defended the team's second place seed in the Central Hockey League standings with a 5-3 victory over the Allen Americans.
J.P. Chabot (Matt Glasser, Phil Tesoriero) scored the opening goal of the night to give the Denver Cutthroats a 1-0 lead over the Allen Americans. J.P. Chabot (Daniel Barczuk, Garett Bembridge) found the back of the Americans net for the second time in the night to extend the Cutthroats lead 2-0.
Ben Power (Mike Berube, Trevor Hendrikx) found a slot past Denver's netminder Kent Patterson to score the first goal of the night for Allen and close the second period 2-1 Cutthroats.
A seesaw third period began when T.J. Fox (Jason Cohen, Kyle Fletcher) scored on a lead pass from Cohen to give the Cutthroats a 3-1 lead. Shortly after, Brian McMillin (Tyler Ludwig, Jonathon Zion) went top shelf on the power play to make the score 3-2 Cutthroats. Barely a minute later, Troy Schwab (Aaron MacKenzie, Vincent Arseneau) scored on a heady play as MacKenzie avoided a diving defender and crossed the puck to Schwab. With less than three minutes remaining in regulation, Mike Berube (Ludwig, Spencer Asuchak) scored to pull the Americans within one. After several last second opportunities for the Americans, Troy Schwab (Bembridge, Sean Zimmerman) scored on an empty net to seal the victory for the Cutthroats with a final score of 5-3.
