ALLEN, TEXAS- The Allen Americans defeated the Tulsa Oilers 7-5 Tuesday night at the Allen Event Center, in a game rescheduled from February 2nd due to weather.

In the first period, the league's leading point producer got the Oilers on the board 3:29 in, when Chad Costello tipped home an RJ Linder shot to make it a 1-0 game. Bruce Graham answered on the power play with a shot from the slot 13 minutes later, with Nino Musitelli picking up the helper on the goal.

Tulsa's Mike Wirll got the second period scoring started at 3:02, burying a wrister which made it a 2-1 game. David Strathman scored his 10th goal of the year just over a minute later to once again tie up the hockey game. Sneaking down into the slot, Strathman took a Bruce Graham feed and beat Tulsa Goaltender Trevor Cann high to the glove side for the goal. Colton Yellow Horn scored on a wicked snapper from the corner of the ice just 61 seconds later to put the Americans on top for the first time in the hockey game. Continuing the frenetic pace, Wirll registered his second goal of the night to tie up the game 10:38 into the second frame. Then with Allen on the power play, Kip Brennan nabbed his 6th goal of the year when he banged home a rebound opportunity 12:05 into the stanza to put Allen back on top 4-3.

Late in the second period, after Jarret Lukin was whistled for high sticking, Americans Head Coach Dwight Mullins was charged with a bench minor penalty which put the Oilers up two-men for a full two minutes. The Oilers capitalized on the opportunity when Derek Eastman scored 56 seconds into the third period to tie the game up at 4. Scott Langdon's howitzer just over a minute later put the Americans back up by one, by a score of 5-4. David Nimmo scored on a bizzare goal 10 minutes into the third frame to grab what would eventually turn out to be the game winner. Nimmo thought he had scored the goal on a deflection, and the goal light came on. The play continued however and the puck squirted back out to Nimmo, who ceased his celebration to slam home the puck to officially put the Americans up 6-5. Barely more than two minutes later, Graham scored from the slot to give Allen a two-goal lead at 7-5, where the score would remain for the rest of the game.

Goaltender Adrien LeMay stopped 19 shots to snag his 12th win of the season.

With the win, the Americans move to 32-8-1 for the season. Allen now finds itself 15 points ahead of second place Tulsa, even having played five less games.

The Americans now skate Friday and Saturday night at home against the Odessa Jackalopes at the Allen Event Center. Friday's game is scheduled for a 7:30 PM start, while Saturday's game will start at 7:00 PM. Sunday afternoon the Americans will skate in a 2PM matinee against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees at the Allen Event Center to complete a three games in three days stint.
