PrairieThunder Comes up Short 7-1 Against Fort Wayne

The Bloomington PrairieThunder, with four new players in the line-up, lost to the Fort Wayne Komets 7-1 on Wednesday night in Fort Wayne, Indiana. For the Komets (19-18-5) it was their sixth win in a row and their eighth in their last ten contests. With the loss, Bloomington falls to 24-16-2 on the year and the PrairieThunder is 5-4-1 in their last ten games.

The PrairieThunder, playing with four players who only arrived just a couple of hours before game time, fell behind 2-0 after the first period and 5-0 after two periods. Komets veteran Colin Chaulk scored two goals as did Sean O'Connor. Chaulk's first goal of the night, at 14:34 of the first period, turned out to be the game winner. Derek Patrosso and Tab Lardner each had three point nights for Fort Wayne with a goal and two assists each. Komets goaltender Kevin Reiter stopped 21 of 22 shots for the victory.

Defenseman Alan Mazur scored Bloomington's only goal at 18:49 of the third period after the score was 7-0. For Mazur it was his third goal of the season. Jon Booras and Brodie Sheahan assisted on Mazur's goal. Marco Emond started in goal for the PThunder and gave up 5 goals on 22 shots in 40 minutes of play. Brad Phillips played the final 20 minutes and gave up the last 2 goals on 7 shots.

The PrairieThunder returns home to the U.S. Cellular Coliseum on Friday night for their only weekend home game of the month when they host the Mississippi RiverKings at 7:05pm.
