The Americans will play back-to-back home games this weekend, starting tonight with the Portland Winterhawks.
The two teams meet tonight for the eighth time in a 12-game season series. Tri-City is 3-4-0-0 so far against Portland with the first and most recent victories coming in a shootout. Their last meeting was a week ago in Portland. Taylor Gautheir made his first start in net against Tri-City since joining the Winterhawks and shut out the Ams 8-0. It was Tri-City's largest margin of defeat this season and the only game between Portland and Tri-City this season that has ended in a shutout. Clay Hanus has the most points in the head-to-head series with one goal and nine assists. For Tri-City, Petr Moravec leads with seven points against the Winterhawks. Of his nine goals this season, four have came against Portland.
The Americans played the Prince George Cougars for the final time this season on Tuesday. Tri-City was shut out 2-0, giving them a 2-2-0-0 season record against Prince George. Tomas Suchanek played the full game in net and turned aside 32 of 34 shots faced. The Czech netminder leads the WHL in saves since January 1st with 325 through nine games played.
The Americans will look to get back in the win column with a victory over the Winterhawks, who are on a league leading 14 game point streak.
