Americans Open Final Homestand of the Season
April 6, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Allen Americans News Release
Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans play their final three games of the regular season, beginning tonight at home against the Evansville IceMen. The puck drops at 7:05 PM.
This is the first ever meeting between the two clubs. The Americans and Evansville were both members of the Central Hockey League for two seasons together, but never met in a regular season game. Evansville has been eliminated from any postseason hopes, currently tenth overall in the Western Conference. Former Americans Jarret Lukin and Casey Thrush are both on the Evansville roster, however Lukin is out for the season with an injury.
The Allen Americans come into tonight's contest, winners of two straight games. The Americans swept the Missouri Mavericks last weekend, and have won three of their last four overall. A win by Allen, combined with a loss by Colorado, would lock up fourth place overall in the Western Conference and guarantee home-ice in Round 1 of the Kelly Cup Playoffs.
"We have three chances to lock up the fourth seed," said Americans forward Spencer Asuchak. "We can have that happen tonight if we take care of business and Alaska beats Colorado. More importantly we have to take care of our own business and win the game tonight."
Chad Costello comes into tonight's game with a season-long 16-game point streak. He has a chance to tie Nino Musitelli (2009-2010) and his own record achieved last season with a point in tonight's game. Costello also has a 16-game assist streak, which is the longest in team history.
