Americans Open Busy Weekend by Hosting Winterhawks

The Americans and Winterhawks will meet tonight for the fourth time in their eight-game season series.

Tri-City is 1-1-1-0 against Portland so far this season. Jake Sloan leads head-to-head scoring with four goals and two assists against the Winterhawks.

Portland comes into tonight's game off a loss to the Blazers on Wednesday in Kamloops, the Americans have won their last four, last falling also in Kamloops (1/21, 6-1 KAM - OT). The Ams success as the Toyota Center continues as they are 17-4-1-0 at home this season, including points in their last 15 home games (14-0-1-0). They last played on Wednesday as they downed the Swift Current Broncos 6-1, led by a season-high five power play goals.

Jake Sloan and Ethan Ernst each scored a pair of goals, Adam Mechura and Jordan Gavin added one each as well. Reese Belton had an impressive night with three assists. Tomas Suchanek turned aside 30 of 31 shots to earn his 11th straight victory in net. The Americans now have points in their last 12 games with a 9-0-3-0 streak.

After scoring on 5/8 power play opportunities, the Americans now have the top power play in the WHL at 30.5%. Their power play at home is even better at 36.4%.
