Hawks Stymied in Kamloops

Portland Winterhawks News Release
Portland, Ore. - Kyle Chyzowski scored late, but the Winterhawks' (34-9-2-1) six-game winning streak was snapped on Wednesday in a 5-1 loss to the Kamloops Blazers (28-10-4-2).
The Blazers opened the scoring early as Olen Zellweger tallied his 15th of the year with a coast-to-coast drive at 2:24. Winterhawks netminder Dante Giannuzzi kept his team alive with a whopping 20 first-period saves, but the Kamloops attack continued in the second. Midway through the middle frame, the Blazers doubled their lead on Dylan Sydor's seventh of the season at 11;31, then made it 3-1 as Matthew Seminoff struck at 16:38.
Chyzowski snapped Dylan Ernst's shutout bid at 12:56 of the third, corralling a loose rebound from a Marek Alscher shot at the right side of the net and squeezing it past the Kamloops' goaltender. Three minutes later, though, Sydor had his second to make it 4-1, and Logan Stankoven chipped in an empty-netter to wrap things up.
The Winterhawks are back in action on Friday in Kennewick, Wash. as they take on the Tri-City Americans at 7:00 P.M.
