
Hitmen Fall to Pats in Shootout

Calgary, AB- It was a full house at the Scotiabank Saddledome tonight with the Calgary Hitmen playing the third of five straight games welcoming the Regina Pats.
It was Blake Heward who opened up the game scoring for Calgary, tipping one in off a shot from Tyson Galloway. The goal was matched with an unassisted goal from Connor Bedard to tie the game. A late power play goal from Carter Yakemchuk regained the lead for Calgary heading into the second period. The second was another dominant period for Calgary with Tomis Marinkovic notching another goal to make it 3-1. Calgary headed into the third period out shooting Regina 39-24.
Two third period goals from Tanner Brown and Alexander Suzdalev kick started the Regina comeback, tying the game. Sean Tschigerl scored his 16th of the season to regain the lead with under ten minutes to go. Regina had an answer once again tying the game courtesy of Braxton Whitehead. London Hoilett was able to put Calgary back in the lead unassisted but the game was tied again by Whitehead for his second of the game pushing the game to overtime. Extra minutes proved unsuccessful, as the game was forced to a shootout. Connor Bedard was the lone goal scorer, winning the game for Regina 6-5. Shots finished 49- 37 in favour of the Hitmen.
Calgary is back at home for a pair of weekend games at Scotiabank Saddledome. The first is on Saturday, Feb. 4 against Edmonton before welcoming Moose Jaw on Sunday, Feb. 5. Both are 2:00 p.m. starts with Saturday's contest the 'Every Child Matters' game in partnership with Siksika Health Services and Sunday's tilt another 'Sunday Funday' presented by Brookfield Residential.
