Tri-City will continue their East Division road trip tonight as they take on the Saskatoon Blades.
The two teams last met on November 27, 2019 when the Americans suffered a 2-1 regulation loss to the Blades in Kennewick. Three players on Tri-City's current roster were in the lineup that night: Ian Ferguson, Parker Bell, and Marc Lajoie. Tri-City last played in Saskatoon on November 18, 2018 as they fell 5-3.
The Americans played last night in Prince Albert. Tri-City struggled to stop the Raiders' power play unit, surrendering four power play goals on five opportunities in a 5-4 loss.
After trailing 4-0 heading into the second period, Ethan Ernst, Jake Sloan, Tyson Greenway, and Drew Freer each scored for Tri-City within 8:41 to tie the game at 4-4. The Raiders took back their lead early into the final frame with a power play goal from Landon Kosior. Four power play goals against is a season-high for Tri-City. Tomas Suchanek played the full game in net, stopping 22 of 27 shots faced. Tri-City out shot Prince Albert 29-27, including a season-high 18 shots in the second period.
Both Tri-City and Saskatoon come into tonight's game looking to get back in the win column. Saskatoon lost their most recent game against Lethbridge, while Tri-City is on a two-game skid after ending a four-game winning streak.
The Ams currently boast the best power play in the WHL with 30.4% success while the Blades are 15th at 19%. Tri-City's penalty kill is 21st in the WHL at 67.7% and Saskatoon is 6th at 84.3%.
