Allen Americans News Release
Tulsa, Oklahoma - The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, closed out a three-game series against the Tulsa Oilers on Sunday afternoon with a 5-4 overtime loss at BOK Center in front of a crowd of 4,329.
The Americans jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the opening period as Dante Salituro found Riley Bourbonnais on a two-on-one break, with Bourbonnais finishing the job scoring his 11th of the season. Despite being outshot 9 to 6 in the first period, the Americans took a 1-0 lead to the locker room.
Dante Salituro, Zach Pochiro and Braylon Shmyr all scored in the second frame for Allen. Tulsa battled back from a 2-0 second period deficit to tie the game with two goals in fifteen seconds. The Americans answered with two of their own in less than a minute. However, Tulsa cut the lead back to a one-goal game in the final three and a half minutes, as the teams would head to the locker rooms with a 4-3 Allen lead.
Tulsa tied the score in the third period on a deflection by Ryan Tesink in front of the Americans net to even the game at 4-4. Sixty minutes was not enough to solve this one, so the teams headed to overtime and at 2:59 of the extra session, the Americans were penalized for too many men on the ice. The Oilers would capitalize as Charlie Sampair knocked one home for his 13th of the season and the Americans dropped back to back games to Tulsa with a 5-4 overtime loss.
