WALLEYE NOTES

Five of six possible points achieved: With the home crowds behind the Walleye, Toledo collected five out of possible six points. Justin Kea led the way for the Walleye with a goal and an assist in Friday's 3-2 win over the first place Cincinnati Cyclones. Saturday night, Toledo picked up a point in a 3-2 shootout loss at the hands of Rapid City despite a 44-29 shot advantage. Marcus Crawford made his first pro goal count when he scored 1:34 into overtime on Sunday for a 4-3 win over the Rush.

Record set: With an assist on the overtime game-winning goal Sunday, TJ Hensick boosted his point streak to 12 straight contests which sets a new Walleye record. The previous best for consecutive games with a point was 11 set by Shane Berschbach in March of 2017 (March 4 through March 27, 2017). TJ currently leads all ECHL players in points with 53 (15G, 38A).

Pack the barn: Toledo posted yet another sellout crowd by welcoming in 7,450 in Sunday's dramatic win over Rapid City. It was the 13th sellout crowd of the season for the Walleye who are averaging an above capacity 7,664 per contest (sellout is 7,431). That is the second highest among all ECHL teams.

Bonus hockey: With both Saturday and Sunday going into to overtime, the Walleye have entered the fourth period of play in five of the last seven games dating back to Friday, January 11 at Idaho. Toledo has appeared in 13 games that have gone past regulation this season which is the second most in the league (Rapid City 15).

Home stand continues: Another home three-in-three awaits the Walleye starting Thursday morning when the Kalamazoo Wings come to Toledo. The Walleye are 5-0-1 in the first six matchups on the way to twelve this year. Friday night features a good matchup with the Tulsa Oilers in Toledo for the second time this year. The Walleye won a tight 6-4 game back on December 7 in the Huntington Center. The week concludes with a vast from Brampton Saturday night. The two teams have combined to score 42 goals in four games against each this year with the Walleye winning three of the four.

WALLEYE TRANSACTIONS

The Walleye have acquired defenseman Ben Danford from the Atlanta Gladiators in exchange for forward Daniel Leavens and defenseman Sam Thibault. Danford has 10 points (1G, 9A) in 24 games this year for the Gladiators after posting 34 points (10G, 24A) in 52 games for Atlanta last year. The Canisius College product was a plus 21 for Orlando in 2016-17 over 51 games for the Solar Bears. Leavens had 19 points (4G, 15A) over 30 games this season for the Walleye while Thibault had 8 assists in 38 games. In a separate move, the Walleye released forward Brett D'Andrea, who appeared in just one game for Toledo.
