Allen Americans News Release

Kalamazoo, Michigan - The Allen Americans gave up three first period goals and never recovered as the Kalamazoo Wings defeated the Americans 5-3 on Sunday afternoon in Michigan. The Americans are 0-1-1 lifetime against the Wings.

Tanner Eberle and J.P. Lafontaine scored first period goals for Allen, but that's all the Americans had offensively until late in the third, when Travis Brown found the back of the net for his first of the season.

"We were not very good defensively," said Americans Head Coach and GM Steve Martinson. "Right now our special teams are killing us."

The Americans gave up three power play goals on Sunday to the Wings. After killing off their first 29 to start the season, the Americans have surrendered five power play goals in the last three games.

Jamie Murray made his fourth start in the last five games for Allen. The rookie San Jose Sharks prospect has carried the load since the injury to Riley Gill. Gill along with Dyson Stevenson and Tristan King returned home following the game in Fort Wayne. All three have upper body injuries.

The Americans finished the four-game road trip with a 1-3 record, with the only win coming on Saturday night in Indianapolis. The next two games are at home next Saturday and Sunday before heading out west for another long road trip.

Tickets for all Allen Americans home games are on sale NOW at www.allenamericans.com or call 972-912-1000. Allen Event Box Office is open daily from 10-6.
