Americans Fall to Missouri 3-1

Independence, MO - The Allen Americans journeyed to Independence, Missouri for the final time this regular season to challenge the first place Mavericks. The Americans are currently in a two way tie for second place with the Denver Cutthroats at 66 points each and have one game in hand over Missouri while trailing the first place club by 8 points.

Missouri got on the board first when Sebastian Thinel scored at 14:28 of the opening frame, assisted by Andrew Courtney and Eric Castonguay to give Missouri the 1-0 lead. Missouri held the lead through the balance of the period and outshot the Americans by a count of 14-9.

Missouri extended their lead to 2-0 on Eric Castonguay's marker, assisted by Andrew Courtney at 9:46 of the second period. Again, Missouri held the lead through the remaining time of the second period and held the lead in shots on net 23-20 despite being outshot by Allen in the frame by a 11-9 count.

The Americans cut the Mavericks lead in half when Greger Hanson lit the lamp for the 14th time this season at the 8:01 mark of the third period, Anthony Maiani and Tyler Ludwig earned the helpers. John-Scott Dickson scored on the empty net to cement the Missouri Mavericks victory over the Allen Americans 3-1, the lone assist on the Dickson goal went to Sebastian Thinel. Shots were even in the third period 8-8 for a three period total 31-28 in favor of Missouri.

Allen now heads to St Charles where they play the Chill in back-to-back games this weekend beginning Saturday night with the puck drop scheduled for 7:05PM.
