Americans Face Rush Tonight in a Big Weekend for Allen

March 14, 2014 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Allen Americans News Release

Rapid City, South Dakota - The Allen Americans face the Rapid City Rush tonight in the first of three games this weekend for the Americans. This is Allen's first trip to Rapid City this season, and the first in a year, as the same two clubs tangled last March in the Black Hills. Allen is 2-1-1 against Rapid City this season, with all four games at Allen Event Center.

Alex Lavoie leads the Americans in scoring against Rapid City, with five points, 2 goals and 3 assists. Lavoie was named one of the league finalists yesterday for CHL Rookie of the Year. Left off that list was Americans forward, Spencer Asuchak, who has been one of Allen's best penalty killers all season, as well as leading the Central Hockey League in shorthanded goals most of the year.

The Rush are led by forward Jesse Schultz, who leads Rapid City in scoring against the Americans this season with six points in four games, 2 goals and 4 assists.

Former Allen Americans forward Ben Power, who was signed by Rapid City as a free agent after being waived by Allen, was playing on the Rush top line yesterday alongside Jesse Schultz and Jared Brown.

This is the first of three big games this weekend in the Mountain Time Zone, two against Rapid City and one Sunday in Denver. Puck drop tonight is at 8:05 pm CST .
