Tri-City Americans News Release

KENNEWICK, WA - Tri-City Americans Governor/General Manager Bob Tory announced today that the team has extended the contract of current head coach Don Nachbaur. Terms and length of the extension were not disclosed, per team human resources policies.

Nachbaur, who joined the Americans before the start of the 2003-04 season, has compiled a 197-140-13-8 record, along with 18 ties (0.576 win %) in his five+ seasons with Tri-City. The longest-tenured coach in Americans history, Nachbaur holds nearly every single franchise coaching record, including leading the Americans to their first-ever U.S. Division championship and Scotty Munro trophy last season, a feat that earned him his second WHL Coach of the Year honor.

"Continuity is the single most important factor in the long term success of a hockey program," explained Tory. "Our key hockey staff has been together for a long time and we are happy that Don will remain with our group."

Starting tonight, the Americans will start their longest home stand of the season, which will take them right up to the winter break. The first of eight games will be against the Everett Silvertips on Wednesday, November 26, before they face-off against the rival Spokane Chiefs on Friday, November 28 and Vancouver Giants on Saturday, November 29. All games start at 7:05 p.m. at Toyota Center. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster outlets, including the Toyota Center box office, all Fred Meyer locations, or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
