Americans Earn 2-1 Victory over Giants in Overtime

The Americans put themselves back in the win column tonight as they earned a 2-1 overtime victory in Vancouver. Tomas Suchanek held the Americans in the game, turning aside 35 shots, and Petr Moravec secured the extra point for Tri-City with the game-winning overtime goal.

For the second night in a row, Sam Huo put the Americans on the board with a shorthanded goal. Tri-City found themselves on the penalty kill after Ethan Ernst took a double-minor for high sticking 7:16 into the first period. Just 11 seconds into the penalty, Huo forced a turnover at center ice and skated in for an unassisted shorthanded goal.

Tri-City's one goal lead didn't hold for long as Alex Cotton scored a power play goal for the Giants just 59 seconds later.

The game stayed tied at one through the remainder of regulation play.

Petr Moravec scored the winning goal 1:37 into overtime. The Czech forward won a faceoff the in Americans zone and skated all the way to the Giants goal with an impressive individual effort. The goal was Moravec's 14th of the season and second game-winner.

Tomas Suchanek turned aside 35 of 36 shots faced.
