Prince Albert Raiders News Release

Prince Albert, Sask. - The Prince Albert Raiders (23-29-3-1) dropped a 6-3 game to the Swift Current Broncos (21-30-5-2) on Wednesday night at the Art Hauser Centre.

Nolan Allan, Evan Herman, and Sloan Stanick all contributed a goal and an assist in the loss for the Raiders.

Combined with wins by the Calgary Hitmen and the Regina Pats on Wednesday, the loss dropped the Raiders to a tie for ninth place in the conference with the Hitmen. The Raiders trail the seventh-place Lethbridge Hurricanes by two points and the eighth-place Pats by one.

The Broncos got the scoring started on Wednesday night with 12:43 to play in the opening period. Tikhon Chaika kicked a rebound out from Raphael Pelletier's shot, but it found the stick of Kayden Sadhra-Kang who lifted a shot over the sprawling netminder.

Stanick tied things up less than two minutes later. After Reece Vitelli had a chance on goal, the rebound popped out to Remy Aquilon at the top of the zone. His drive was stopped by Isaac Poulter, but Stanick was able to corral the puck at the side of the goal. His shot got by Poulter's glove for his 18th of the year, making it a 1-1 game.

The Raiders took their first lead of the contest with 2:57 to play in the opening period on the power play. Landon Kosior made a cross-zone feed to Herman who blasted a one-timer past Poulter for his team-leading 22nd goal of the season, giving the Raiders the 2-1 edge.

Less than a minute later, the Broncos levelled the score. Carter Stebbings made a move around a Raiders defender to get to the net. His backhand attempt was deflected in front causing it to float over Chaika's blocker to make it a 2-2 game after 20 minutes.

Karson King put the Broncos ahead at the 6:08 mark of the middle frame. Chaika stopped Josh Fluker's point shot, but the rebound went right to King. He put it through Chaika to put the Broncos back in front.

Just 11 seconds later, King struck again to give the Broncos a 4-2 lead. After Connor Hvidston put his attempt wide of Chaika, the puck came off the endboards to King who put it off the crossbar and in for his second of the period.

That goal was the end of Chaika's night between the pipes for the Raiders. He made 10 saves in just more than 26 minutes of action.

Swift Current extended its lead with 6:19 to play in the middle frame with a power-play marker. His wrister from the top of the right faceoff circle fooled Max Hildebrand to put the Broncos ahead 5-2 after two periods.

The Raiders cut into the lead with 3:16 remaining in the game with the net empty for the extra attacker. Allan was able to step into a shot from the top of the right faceoff circle that beat a screened Poulter for the Chicago Blackhawks prospect's fifth of the year, making it a 5-3 game.

It was as close as the Raiders came in the game. Pelletier added an empty-net goal with 1:02 to play to round out the scoring at 6-3.

Hildebrand stopped eight shots in nearly 32 minutes of relief. Poulter finished the game with 39 saves to pick up the win.

The Raiders are off until Saturday night when they host the Saskatoon Blades at the Art Hauser Centre. On that evening, they will be wearing special pirate-themed jerseys that are currently available via auction. For all of the auction details, visit 32auctions.com/RaidersPirates.

Game time for Saturday's showdown with the Blades is 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the Raiders Office and at SaskTix.ca.
