Allen jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals from Zach Pochiro (6) and David Makowski (2). Both players had two-point nights, each with a goal and an assist. The Mavericks cut the lead to 2-1 late in the first, on a power play goal with 50 seconds left in the period. Allen took the 2-1 lead to the room and a 14-8 advantage in shots.

Kansas City broke it open in the second period with three goals to grab a 4-2 lead. The Americans would not recover, as Kansas City went on to win by a score of 5-3. The loss for Allen drops their record to 3-8-0-1 to start the season, with a 0-4-0 home record.

The Americans and Kansas City resume their three-game series tomorrow night at 7:05 pm.
