Kennewick, WA- From start to finish, the Tri-City Americans (20-23-2-0, 42) put their foot on the gas and never looked back, defeating the Vancouver Giants (17-25-3-2, 39 pts) 5-1 in front of 2,570 fans at the Toyota Center on Tuesday Night.

The Americans started off the scoring in the first. Tyler Sandhu found a wide-open Vladislav Lukin, one-timing a shot from the left faceoff circle for a 1-0 lead. Tri-City beat the buzzer before the end of the first, as Parker Bowles scored a power play goal with one second remaining to give Tri-City a 2-0 advantage after 20 minutes.

Late in the second, the Americans made it 3-0, as Tyler Sandhu banged at a puck in front of the net that popped into the air and landed past the red line for a goal. With less than a minute remaining, Beau McCue scored on a wrist shot from the slot for a 4-0 lead after two periods.

Early in the third, Austyn Playfair got in on the scoring, as he fired a puck from the right faceoff circle past the glove of the goaltender shorthanded for a 5-0 Americans lead. But on that same power play, Vancouver got a goal from Dakota Odgers, slamming home a loose puck in front of the net, ruining the shutout attempt. But the Americans were solid after the goal, cruising to the four goal victory.

The Americans have won a season-high three straight home games, and have tied the longest overall win streak this season.

Tri-City was 1-of-4 on the power play and spent 16 minutes in the penalty box. Vancouver didn't score with three man advantage opportunities and recorded 18 penalty minutes.

Evan Sarthou recorded 31 saves in the win. Ryan Kubic got the start in net for Vancouver, stopping 16 shots in two periods of play while getting the loss. Jake Morrissey came on to start the third period and made seven saves.

Tri-City will hit the road for a pair of games, starting with the Kelowna Rockets (31-11-3-0, 65 pts) this Friday, Jan. 22. Game time is at 7:05 p.m. at Prospera Place. Kelowna has won both meetings this season, including the last meeting, 7-5, at Prospera Place.
