Tri-City Americans News Release
KENNEWICK, WA - Tri-City Americans Governor/General Manager Bob Tory announced today that the team has signed 2015 Bantam Draft Pick Paycen Bjorklund to a standard WHL Players Agreement.
Bjorklund was taken in the second round (25th overall) in the 2015 Bantam Draft.
"Paycen is a dynamic skater with good offensive upside," stated Tory. "We are happy that Paycen and his family have chosen the WHL and the Tri-City Americans in pursuit of his hockey future."
The native of Grande Prairie, AB, currently plays for the Grande Peace Storm of the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League. Last season, the 5'10, 162-pound right winger played 23 games for Grande Prairie, scoring 37 goals and 18 assists. Bjorklund played for Team Alberta in the 2015 U16 Challenge Cup, earning a gold medal.
"Paycen is our top line right wing," Paycen's Coach Matthieu Keillor said. "He is a dynamic scorer with the ability to do everything at a high rate of speed. Paycen is an elite skater and has that extra gear that can beat defenders wide. Paycen had an adjustment period to the season but since Christmas break, in his last four games, he has 10 points, including five goals and five assists. He has helped his team to a 3-1-0 record in that time."
The Americans are back in action on Friday, Jan. 29, against the Everett Silvertips. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster locations, including the Toyota Center Box Office, at any Fred Meyer outlet or online at Ticketmaster.com.
