Vancouver Giants News Release
Kennewick, WA - The Vancouver Giants lost 5-1 to the Tri-City Americans at the Toyota Center on Tuesday evening. Vancouver's lone goal was scored by Dakota Odgers. The G-Men finish the season series against Tri-City with a record of 1-2-1-0.
Vladislav Lukin opened the scoring for the home team in the first period when he beat Vancouver goaltender Ryan Kubic on a one-timer from the right face-off dot. Parker Bowles extended the lead, scoring a power play goal off the rush with just 1.1 seconds to go on the opening frame.
Kubic came up big in the second period when he stopped Lukin on a breakaway, but Tyler Sandhu scored a few minutes later to put the Americans up 3-0. Beau McCue added his name to the scoresheet in the final minute of the stanza, and Tri-City led by four goals after forty minutes.
Jake Morrissey entered the game in relief of Kubic in the third period, and Austyn Playfair netted a shorthanded goal to make it 5-0. Odgers spoiled Tri-City goalie Evan Sarthou's shutout bid when he scored his seventh of the season at 3:14 of the final frame.
The Giants will be back in action on Friday when they host the Medicine Hat Tigers at the Pacific Coliseum. Face-off is at 7:30pm. For tickets, go to TicketLeader.ca or call 604.4.GIANTS (604.444.2687).
