Americans Complete Comeback with Overtime Win in Brandon

The Tri-City Americans came from behind and defeated the Brandon Wheat Kings tonight 4-3 in overtime. Lukas Dragicevic was Tri-City's hero, recording the second overtime goal of his career.

Tri-City has now been victorious in their last six visits to Brandon.

Adam Mechura opened scoring tonight with his 7th goal of the season, giving the Americans a 1-0 lead late in the first period.

The score stayed at 1-0 until Brandon scored a pair of goals from Nate Danielson and Calder Anderson late in the second period to take a 2-1 lead. Jake Chiasson added one more for the Wheat Kings early into the final frame to extend their lead to 3-1.

Jake Sloan put the Americans back within one as he scored his 7th of the season on the power play with 12:13 remaining in the game.

Ethan Ernst scored with a wrist shot from the right circle to send the game to overtime at 15:16.

Two minutes into overtime, Brett Hyland took a double minor for boarding putting the Americans on a power play through the last three minutes of the extra period.

2023 NHL Draft prospect Lukas Dragicevic capitalized on the opportunity and secured the extra point for Tri-City with 2:29 remaining in overtime. Adam Mechura fed the puck to Dragicevic across the low slot, where the 17-year-old defenseman narrowly scored glove-side on Wheat Kings goaltender Carson Bjarnason.

Tomas Suchanek played the full game in net for the Americans, stopping 24 of 27 shots faced and earning his 7th victory of the season.
