Shreveport Bossier 7, El Paso 4

Shreveport-Bossier completed a sweep of El Paso, as the Diablos dropped their tenth straight in a 7-4 loss. The Captains put 22 men on base, led by CF Jovanny Rosario, who went 3-for-5 with a run scored, an RBI, and two stolen bases. Starting pitcher Ryan DiPietro surrendered two earned runs in seven innings of work, but the win went to Jameson Maj, who struck out two in his lone inning of work. C Benji Johnson and 3B Mike Provencher had two-hit games for El Paso in the loss.

Pensacola 9, Sioux Falls 8 (Game 1)

A two-run double from Pensacola DH Lou Palmisano in the bottom of the fifth put the Pelicans ahead for good as they won the first game of a doubleheader with Sioux Falls 9-8. RF Chase Porch went 2-for-3 with a run scored and four RBI, including a big two-run single as part of the Pelicans' four-run fifth. Leadoff man Francisco Leandro reached base all four times he batted for Pensacola, scoring three runs and adding his 21st double of the season. CF Reggie Abercrombie slugged a home run and drove in three while SS Tim Hutting went 3-for-3 with a walk, scoring three runs in the Explorers' losing effort.

Sioux Falls 8, Pensacola 5 (Game 2)

The Explorers' 2-3-4 hitters combined to go 8-for-11 with four runs scored, two home runs, and seven RBI as Sioux Falls forced a split of their doubleheader with Pensacola with an 8-5 victory. LF Marcos Rodriguez and 3B Carlos Leon each drove in a pair of runs for the Pelicans, who were held to just six hits in the game. LHP Ryan Rodriguez picked up the win for Sioux Falls while closer Aaron Cotter earned his 21st save by striking out two in a perfect seventh.

Wichita at Sioux City (Postponed)

The game between Wichita and Sioux City was postponed due to rain and will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Tuesday, August 17th, beginning at 5:05pm.
