Allen, Tucker Grab Player Of The Week Honors

DURHAM, NC - The American Association of Independent Professional Baseball announced today that Fort Worth OF John Allen (pictured) and Shreveport-Bossier RHP Cardoza Tucker have been named the Pointstreak Batter and Pitcher of the Week. The selection was made by Pointstreak, the official statistician of the American Association.
Allen played in seven games and hit .461 in 26 at-bats. He fueled Fort Worth to a four-game sweep of El Paso with two huge games, going an incredible 6-for-6 with three runs scored, two home runs, and six RBI in the series opener. He followed that up with a 3-for-4 performance in the third game, scoring four runs, driving in four, and falling a single short of the cycle. In all, Allen stroked four home runs and compiled 14 RBI for the Cats, slugging an eye-popping 1.038 and drawing four walks. The 28-year-old slugged a sixth-inning grand slam for the South Division in the recent All-Star Game. Allen is tied for second in the league in RBI with 78, and is batting .339 on the season with 12 doubles and 22 home runs.
Tucker made two starts for the Captains and recorded victories in both outings. The 25-year-old threw a combined 15 innings and allowed just three earned runs, giving him a 1.80 ERA on the week. He struck out nine batters against just one walk, controlling the strike zone and providing valuable innings for Shreveport-Bossier in their wins over Wichita and El Paso. Tucker joined Shreveport-Bossier in mid-July and has made six appearances (five starts) thus far. In all, he is 3-3 with a 4.24 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 34 innings pitched.
