Drew Coffey pitched five innings and allowed one earned run to help Shreveport-Bossier down Pensacola 2-1. Mathematically unable to catch Pensacola for the top spot in the South Division, the Captains had a strong showing from their bullpen allowing just two hits in the final four innings to give Coffey the win. The Pelicans used the game as a tune up for the playoffs as they employed six different pitchers in the contest. Pensacola C Adam Deleo had the best game offensively for either side with a 2-for-3 performance.

Sioux City 12, St. Paul 2

Sioux City got a solid pitching performance and a big game from their offense as they took care of St. Paul 12-2. Nick Singleton threw six shutout innings as he allowed just three hits and two walks to pick up his sixth win of the season. Meanwhile the Explorers bats pounded out 16 hits including 10 off Saints starter Reed Dickert who allowed nine earned runs and fell to 4-6 with the loss. Three Sioux City batters tallied three hits in the contest including DH Norm Hutchins who had five RBI. With the loss St. Paul missed a chance to pull into a tie for first in the North Division's second half standings and fell into a tie with Lincoln for the wild card.

Grand Prairie 5, Wichita 4

Grand Prairie scored five late runs to defeat Wichita by a 5-4 final. Trailing 2-0 the Airhogs grabbed a 4-2 lead with four runs in the seventh inning but saw the Wingnuts tie the game with two in the home half of the frame. In the eighth, doubles by 1B Javier Brito and DH Derek Nicholson gave Grand Prairie the lead for good. In the ninth inning, Airhogs closer James Morrison got some help from his catcher JB Tucker. With Wichita attempting a double steal, Tucker threw out the lead run at second base for the second out of the inning. Morrison then stranded the tying run at third as he got the final out on a fly ball.

Lincoln 11, Sioux Falls 5

Their playoff hopes fading due to a six game losing streak, the Lincoln Saltdogs notched a big 11-5 road win at Sioux Falls to put themselves right back in the playoff hunt. Trailing 4-0 after four innings the Saltdogs tied the game with four runs in the fifth and pulled away with seven runs over the next two innings. Lincoln 1B Phil Hawke homered for the 12th time this season and finished the game with three RBI. LF Gavin Dickey also drove in three as part of a 3-for-5 performance. Lincoln is now tied with Wichita for the top spot in the North Division's second half standings. The Saltdogs are also tied with St. Paul for the wild card.

El Paso 5, Ft. Worth 3

El Paso starter Josh Neitz allowed just two earned runs in a complete game effort that carried the Diablos to a 5-3 win over Ft. Worth. Neitz surrendered 12 hits including five doubles but managed to prevent the big inning each time the Cats threatened. While the Diablos were outhit 12-8 in the contest they managed single runs in five separate innings including the seventh and eighth off Ft. Worth relievers. Those runs proved to be the difference in the ballgame.
