Sioux Falls 2, Wichita 0 (Game 1 - 7 Innings)

In the first game of a doubleheader, Sioux Falls beat Wichita 2-0 as Ryan Ford tossed six scoreless innings to improve his record to 4-3. Kris Regas completed the shutout with a scoreless seventh inning, earning his thirteen save. 1B Patrick Reilly and C Paul Smyth drove in the Canaries runs in a game that saw just nine hits between the teams. Justin Young suffered his first loss of the year for Wichita.

Sioux Falls 10, Wichita 2 (Game 2 - 7 Innings)

HR: SF- Ben Van Iderstine (3), Beau Torbert 2 (9)

In game two, Sioux Falls took it right at the Wingnuts as they racked up double digit hits and runs in a 10-2 win. The star of the game was LF Beau Torbert who homered twice and drove in four. He now has nine roundtrippers on the year. 3B Grant Richardson finished 2-for-4 and the 4-5-6 hitters in the Canaries order each drove in a run and scored a run. Ben Moore pitched all seven innings to even his mark at 3-3 while Leonard Landeros lasted just 4 2/3 for Wichita and surrendered seven earned runs to fall to 3-2. With the sweep of the doubleheader and St. Paul's loss, Sioux Falls took a 1.5 game lead in the North division.

Grand Prairie 5, Pensacola 1

Justin Garcia surrendered just three hits in 6 1/3 innings to lead Grand Prairie over Pensacola 5-1. Garcia struck out nine and walked just one as he improved to 4-1 on the season. His battery mate J. B. Tucker was the star of the game offensively going 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two batted in. Both RBI came on his third inning homer which was his fourth long ball of the year. Pelican 1B Brandon Sing hit his league-leading 11th homer of the season in the fourth inning. SS David Espinoza had a big night as well finishing 3-for-5 with a RBI.

Shreveport 3, Fort Worth 2

Shreveport used a Fort Worth error to break a 2-2 tie in the seventh inning and squeak out a 3-2 win. RF Chad Gambill's fly ball to right field was dropped by Aaron Sisk which allowed 2B Ron Fenwick to score all the way from first base. LF Terrence McClain had a nice game for the Sports as he collected two hits in four trips to the plate and drove in a run. Cats 1B Jake Gautreau went 3-for-4 in a losing effort and SS Nilson Teilon hit his sixth homer of the year in the top of the fourth. Ryan Riddle was the hard luck loser for Fort Worth while Thad Markray improved to 4-2 on the campaign with eight strong innings of work in which he struck out six and walked no one.

Sioux City 12, St. Paul 8

Sioux City shocked St. Paul with 10 runs in the home half of the fourth inning to overcome an early 7-0 deficit as they beat the Saints by the final of 12-8. Staked to the big lead, Saints starter Justin Lord struggled in the fourth and was victimized by three errors in the inning. With a runner on first, Alex Llanos homered to left to get the Explorers on the board. A double and two singles brought in another run and left runners at first and third. Two errors in the following three at-bats opened the flood gates for Sioux City as they ended the inning with eight hits, having sent 12 men to the plate. C Chris Grossman went 4-for-5 for the Explorers, scored three times and drove in a run. Llanos finished 3-for-5 with three runs scored and three batted in. Not to be outdone, RF Anton French was 3-for-5 as well with two batted in and a run scored.

Mathew Kent's solo homer to left field in the top of the fourth inning was the only run of the contest as El Paso downed Lincoln 1-0. Jusef Frias struck out six as he threw seven shutout innings to up his mark to 2-2 on the year. Michael Cervera followed with two scoreless frames for his second save. Ryan Dittfurth went 7 2/3 innings, walked five and struck out six, but fell to 3-3.
