St. Paul 20, Sioux Falls 11-Box Score

The St. Paul Saints scored a season high 20 runs in a win over the Sioux Falls Canaries on Monday.

The Saints collected 21 hits in the win. RF Max Murphy (4-for-6) homered twice and drove in seven runners for St. Paul. CF Dan Motl, LF Blake Schmidt, C Jeremy Martinez, and 2B Josh Allen also homered for the Saints. Motl (4-for-6) and Schmidt (3-for-3) each drove in four runners. SS Joey Wong went 0-for-1 at the plate for St. Paul, but drew a game-high four walks.

The Canaries hit safely 17 times in the loss. CF Mike Hart paced Sioux Falls, going 2-for-5 with two home runs and six RBIs. 2B Alay Lago and 1B Kevin Taylor also homered for the Canaries.

SP Dustin Crenshaw was awarded the win after giving up six earned runs in seven innings of work.

The combined 31 runs is the highest total in an American Association game in 2019.

Sioux City 6, Cleburne 4-Box Score

The Sioux City Explorers held on to defeat the Cleburne Railroaders on Monday night.

The Explorers took a 1-0 lead on an RBI single by 3B Jose Sermo in the top of the first. Sermo hit a solo home run in the top of the third to make it 2-0. Sioux City added two more in the fourth with one coming on an RBI single by C Dylan Kelly. One inning later, The Explorers made it 5-0 when 1B Adam Sasser scored Sermo on an RBI single in what proved to be the game winning run.

The Railroaders cut the deficit to two with a three-run bottom o the sixth that included a two-run double by 3B Grant Buck.

DH Dexture McCall hit a solo home run in the next frame to give Sioux City an insurance run and make it a 6-3 game.

SP Jason Garcia (6-1) earned the win after giving up three runs (two earned) in 5.1 innings of work. RHP Matt Pobereyko gave up one run, but earned the save by retiring Cleburne in the ninth.
