Kansas City 10, Rockland 7
Despite a five-run fourth inning the Rockland Boulders couldn't overcome a hot start from Kansas City and the T-Bones took the game 10-7. DH Lee Cruz kick started the offense for Kansas City with a two-RBI triple in the first inning. Cruz was one of four T-Bones with two-hit games and he had a team-high three RBI. SS Devin Goodwin also had two hits but both of his left the ball park as he homered in the second and the eighth innings. For the Boulders, CF Chris Valencia had three RBI on a triple at the end of Rockland's fourth inning rally. Valencia scored one run in the game and it came on an error in the ninth inning as the Boulders were trying to climb back into the ball game.
Wichita 3, Sioux Falls 2
Wichita P Josh Lowey kept the Sioux Falls Pheasants off the score board long enough for the Wingnuts to pick up a 3-2 victory. Lowey picked up his twelfth win of the season as he tossed seven innings of three-hit ball and gave up just one run. He struck out nine batters and walked just one. Wichita 2B Wilberto Ortiz who was 2-for-3 in the game broke a 1-1 tie in the top of the eighth inning with a solo home run. SS Ryan Khoury followed Ortiz with a walk and scored when CF Mike Conroy singled in the next at bat to put Witchita up 3-1. Sioux Falls CF Reggie Abercrombie kept the Pheasants hopes alive with a home run in the ninth by closer Josh Drew shut the door and earned the save.
St. Paul 5, Gary SouthShore 2 (Game 2 - 7 innings)
The St. Paul Saints came out strong early to take game two of the double header from the Gary SouthShore RailCats after dropping game one. The Saints took the lead in the first inning on back-to-back RBI singles from LF Jose Hernandez and RF Miles Durham. Hernandez had a game-high three hits in four at bats and a pair of RBI. The RailCats responded in the fourth inning 1B when Kenny Bryant singled home two runs but the Saints pitching staff wouldn't allow another run. The RailCats had just four hits in the game and each came from a different batter. P Robert Coe was the winner as he pitched five innings and gave up just two runs.
El Paso 9, Amarillo 1
The El Paso Diablos took the final game of the three game series with the Amarillo Sox 9-1 to take the series two games to one. CF Mitch Einertson led the way at the plate with four RBI on a double and his fifth home run of the year. LF JJ Muse added three RBI on a 2-for-4 night. Diablo RF Welington Dotel had as many hits as the entire Amarillo lineup as he went 4-for-5 with an RBI. P David Casillas allowed three of those hits and just one run on his way to earning the win for the Diablos. Sox 2B Adam Buschini had a 2-for-4 night while DH Chuck Lofgren had the Sox lone RBI.
Laredo 5, Grand Prairie 3
The first three batters of the Laredo Lemurs' order were destructive at the plate as the accounted for all five of the Lemurs RBI in the 5-3 win over the Grand Prairie AirHogs. CF Stephen Douglas was 2-for-5 and SS Jimmy Mojica was 2-for-4 and each of them had two RBI. LF Palmer Karr Jr. also had an RBI for the Lemurs. AirHog C Chris McMurray had an impressive day at the plate as he had a pair of doubles and a home run to register his team's only two RBI. Laredo's P Leonard Giammanco picked up the win for his four innings of relief work.
Sioux City 8, Winnipeg 7
The Sioux City Explorers held off the Winnipeg Goldeyes 8-7 in a game that saw nearly 30 hits. Only one of the 18 batters in the ballgame went hitless and three different players had three-hit games. Explorers 1B Kris Sanchez was 3-for-4 with two RBI and his fourteenth home run of the season. 3B Wally Backman also homered for the Explorers and scored three runs in the game. Backman also had a triple on the night. Both Goldeye SS Jose Durand and C Luis Alen had three hits in the game and Alen added two RBI. The explorers took control of the game with three-run innings in the seventh and eighth frames. The Goldeyes cut into the lead with a run in the top of the eighth but closer Chris Bodishbaugh worked a scoreless ninth to seal the win and his seventeenth save.
