Lincoln 4, Kansas City 3 (Completion of Suspended Game from May 24)
The Lincoln Saltdogs rallied from a 3-1 deficit with a run in the eighth inning and two more in the ninth to defeat the Kansas City T-Bones 4-3 in the completion of the suspended game from yesterday. CF Blake Gailen and 1B Phil Hawke each collected three hits to lead the Lincoln offense. Saltdogs reliever Nick Schreiber notched the win after tossing two scoreless innings allowing a hit and two walks. SS Jimmy Mojica, 2B Rico Washington and 1B Nick Farnsworth had two hits apiece for the T-Bones in defeat.
Lincoln 6, Kansas City 4 (Regularly Scheduled Game)
Lincoln tallied four runs in the second inning to roll out to a 4-0 lead and would hold on late to defeat Kansas City 6-4 in the regularly scheduled game. Saltdogs RF Maikel Jova and 3B Curt Smith each had 2-for-4 games with both scoring two runs. Lincoln starting pitcher Lindsay Gulin picked up his first win of the season after tossing eight innings giving up four earned runs on 11 hits.
Gary SouthShore 11, Wichita 4
It was all Gary SouthShore in this one as the RailCats go out to a 5-0 lead after two innings and would cruise to an 11-4 victory over the Wichita Wingnuts. With the win, Gary SouthShore takes two of three in the series. RailCats 2B Brad Boyer went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with three runs scored while RF Cristian Guerrero, 1B Jeff Beachum, SS Kyle Haines and LF Adam Klein each drove in two runs. Gary SouthShore starter Scott Shaw earned his second win of the season after tossing six scoreless innings allowing three walks and five hits.
Amarillo 4, Sioux Falls 2
Eight different Sox combined for 11 hits to carry Amarillo to a 4-2 win against Sioux Falls. Right fielder Cyle Hankerd and designated hitter Tim Alberts each had two hits in four at-bats to lead the Sox. Sioux Falls trailed 4-1 after the fourth inning, and Francisco Leandro batted in a second run for the Pheasants in the top of the seventh. Pitcher Justin Garcia earned his first win of the season, allowing six hits and two runs in seven innings pitched. The Pheasants combined for seven hits, and first baseman Brandon Sing led Sioux Falls with two hits in four at-bats.
St. Paul 2, Fort Worth 1
Right fielder Brandon Tripp had three of St. Paul's seven total hits to carry the Saints to a 2-1 win against Fort Worth. Tripp batted in two of St. Paul's three runs - both from singles in the third and fifth innings. Winning pitcher Kyle Zaleski, now 1-0 so far this season, allowed five hits and struck out five in six innings pitched. Designated hitter John Allen, who led Forth Worth with two hits in four at-bats, was the only Cat to have multiple hits in the game. Pitcher Joel Kirsten recorded the loss and is now 2-1 this season.
Fargo-Moorhead 8, Winnipeg 6
Fueled by a big third and seventh inning, Fargo-Moorhead toppled Winnipeg 8-6. Third baseman Brian Ruggiano, left fielder Jason James and catcher Phil Britton each had a pair of hits, and the RedHawks combined for 12 total hits in the game. Britton's double in the bottom of the seventh inning was good for a pair of RBI and James followed up to seal the deal for Fargo-Moorhead. Winning pitcher Nick Di Napoli allowed one hit, one run and struck out three in 2.1 innings pitched. Winnipeg had nine hits in the matchup and second baseman Price Kendall led the Goldeyes with a pair of hits and two RBI.
