Amarillo, TX - The Amarillo Gorillas snapped out of a four game losing streak by beating the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees 5-3 on Saturday night. Amarillo out-shot the Bees 64-31, coming just three shots shy of the all-time franchise record for shots in a game. The shot-total was especially slanted in the first two periods, with Amarillo out-shooting Rio Grande Valley 30-5 in the first and 24-13 in the second.
Amarillo battled back from down one goal twice, before taking the lead for good off Bill Vandermeer's goal at 9:12 of the second period. Amarillo went 3-14 on the power-play, while Rio Grande Valley went 2-8.
Dan Bauer got the win in net for the Gorillas, turnding aside 28 of the 31 shots he saw, while his counterpart David Lemanowicz made 59 saves on 64 shots. The Gorillas are back in action tomorrow afternoon, traveling to Austin to take on the Ice Bats. Game time is set for 4:08 PM.
