Brahmas crowned by Kings

Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS - Things just couldn't go the Brahmas way Saturday evening at the NYTEX Sports Centre as they were defeated by Northeast opponent, Mississippi RiverKings 4-1.

The RiverKings started the scoring when Chad Woollard, a former Brahma, scored a goal at the 10:29 mark in the first. Texas answered back on the powerplay as Anders Strome with a feed from Blair Manning and Tyler Skworchinski slapped a shot past RiverKings netminder Ian Keserich.

After a promising opening period, the large crowd at NYTEX found the second disappointing as the RiverKings put two more past Brahmas goaltender Brett Jaeger. Frustration and intensity was building on the Brahmas end when strong forward Greg McConnell dropped the gloves with RiverKing's defenseman Steve Makway.

A bouncing puck on the end of RiverKing Ryan Held's stick found the way to the back of the net in the final period, finishing off the Brahmas 4-1. For Texas, shots were unable to find a way in despite outshooting Mississippi 35-23.

The Brahmas will travel to Mississippi to reface the RiverKings tomorrow evening for a 5:05 PM start. Fans can catch the action only on CHL Network. The Brahmas will return to the NYTEX Sports Center for a Sunday matinee January 27 for a 3:05 match up against the Corpus Christi Rayz.
